New Directions Education are currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants to work within mainstream primary schools across Chester. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them to access learning in an inclusive and supportive environment.
The schools we work with are welcoming and inclusive, with strong support systems in place to ensure all pupils are given the opportunity to succeed. Staff work collaboratively to support children with a range of needs, including communication, learning, and social and emotional development.
Due to the nature of these opportunities, candidates must be able to commit to working 3 or more days per week.
The Role:
• Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND
• Assisting the class teacher with adapted learning activities
• Supporting pupils with a range of needs, including communication and social interaction
• Implementing individual support plans and strategies
• Promoting pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development
• Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in learning
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
• Monitoring and recording pupil progress where required
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
• Experience working with children with SEND (desirable)
• A patient, caring, and adaptable approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
• A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
• A full driving licence and access to transport (desirable)
