About the Role
New Directions Education are currently recruiting for a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) within a welcoming mainstream primary school in Walmley.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference by supporting a child throughout the school day, helping them engage with learning, develop social and communication skills, and build confidence within the classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day
Support learning activities both inside and outside the classroom
Follow and implement strategies outlined within the pupil’s individual support plan
Encourage communication, independence and positive social interaction
Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENDCo
Help create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is:
Experienced in supporting children with Autism or other SEND needs
Patient, caring and nurturing in their approach
A confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills
Able to build positive relationships with children and staff
In possession of an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to obtain one)
Able to provide two satisfactory professional references
Experience
No formal qualifications are required; however, relevant experience is essential.
