Job Description

A welcoming and inclusive mainstream school based in Sefton is looking to appoint a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Working closely with teaching staff and the SEND team, you will play a vital role in providing tailored support to pupils, ensuring they feel included, engaged, and empowered throughout their educational journey. The Role

  • Full-time Teaching Assistant role supporting pupils with SEND
  • Working within a mainstream school environment
  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to students with additional needs
  • Collaborating with teachers, the SENDCO, and wider support staff
  • Helping to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment
  • Access to ongoing training and professional development opportunities

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with a range of SEND needs both inside and outside the classroom
  • Assist with the delivery of learning activities tailored to individual student requirements
  • Encourage pupil engagement, independence, and confidence
  • Build positive relationships with students to support their academic and emotional development
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
  • Promote a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

  • Has experience working with children or young people, ideally those with SEND
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Can build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
  • Is committed to supporting the learning and wellbeing of every pupil
  • Relevant qualifications or previous SEND experience are desirable but not essential
