Job Description

New Directions are currently recruiting for a full time learning support assistant position within the additional learning needs sector

. We want candidates who feel confident to work with a range of different needs, striving to make children’s school experience a fun and safe environment, giving them the tools to reach their full potential.

A child based role or support work background is desirable for this role as well as a calm demeanor and the ability to adapt to the changing environment that comes with an ALN setting.

Ideally we ask for 3 months minimum experience working with children, or have a child based qualification.

You will have:

• Good understanding of English language
• A proactive attitude
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills
• Capability to monitor behavioural needs and support pupils with low self-esteem
• A calm demeanour and encouraging nature
• Commitment

You will need:

• A minimum of 3 months child-based experience
• Contactable references
• A Child and Adult DBS – or be willing to undertake one via New Directions
• A willingness to complete mandatory training when required
