Job Description
New Directions Education are recruiting for a pool of passionate, resilient, and dedicated Teaching Assistants to work within a local Alternative Provision School in Bradford, ahead of the New Academic Year (2026/2027). This is an excellent opportunity to support young people who require additional guidance to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
We want to hear from candidates who have:
Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs and/or challenging behaviour.
Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and positive behaviour support strategies.
A calm, patient and empathetic approach to supporting learners.
Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
Team Teach training (or other behaviour intervention training) is desirable but not essential.
You will be working with pupils across Key Stages 2, 3 and 4, providing tailored support both in and out of the classroom. This role involves:
Supporting learners on a 1:1 basis and in small group interventions.
Assisting the class teacher in delivering engaging and structured learning activities.
Promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and student engagement.
Encouraging learners to develop confidence, independence, and resilience.
Building strong relationships with pupils, colleagues, families, and external professionals.
