Job Description

New Directions Education is currently recruiting dedicated and nurturing Teaching Assistants to work within SEN Resource Provisions in mainstream schools. This is a fantastic opportunity to support pupils with additional needs in a structured, specialist environment while being part of a wider school community.

About the Role
As a Teaching Assistant within an SEN Resource Provision, you will support pupils who require additional help to access learning due to a range of special educational needs, while working within a smaller, tailored setting inside a mainstream school.
Your responsibilities will include:
-Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils within the resource provision
-Supporting children with a range of needs, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and moderate learning needs
-Assisting in the delivery of personalised, differentiated learning activities
-Supporting the implementation of EHCPs and individual learning plans
-Using structured routines, visual aids, and targeted strategies to support engagement and understanding
-Helping pupils develop social skills, communication, and emotional regulation
-Promoting positive behaviour through consistent and supportive approaches
-Supporting pupils during transitions between the resource provision and mainstream classroom where appropriate
-Building strong, trusting relationships to help pupils feel safe, confident, and understood
-Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to provide well-rounded support
-Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
This role offers a balance between specialist SEN support and integration within a mainstream environment, making it both varied and highly rewarding.

The Setting
SEN Resource Provisions are specialist units within mainstream schools designed to provide targeted support in smaller class sizes, while still allowing pupils to access mainstream education where appropriate. These settings are structured, supportive, and focused on individual progress and inclusion.
