A fantastic primary school in Leeds is looking for an experienced PMLD teaching assistant to join their SEND Team. This is a 1:1 support role based in KS1 so experience of supporting pupils with additional needs such as: autism, speech & language needs is essential. This role is to start in September, continuing until the end of the school year.
Key Responsibilities of Teaching Assistant:
Provide learning support for a students on a 1:1 basis
Assist with the development of individual education and behavioural plans setting challenging expectations for pupils to achieve learning goals.
Establish trusting relationships with pupils with interactions according to individual needs and personalities.
Work closely with SENCo and Class Teacher to ensure learning is tailored to needs of pupils
Personal Specification of Teaching Assistant:
Have experience supporting primary aged students on a 1:1 basis (at least 1 year)
Have a strong understanding of SEND Needs such as: ASC and Speech & Language Needs
Willing to support in the classroom as well deliver targeted interventions with a focus on speech and language
Have an ability to use own initiative with an ability to ‘think on your feet’
Have a positive and ambitious attitude to learning
