Job Description

The Exams Officer is responsible for the efficient administration, organisation, and conduct of all internal and external examinations within a Welsh-medium school. This role requires a detailed understanding of examination board regulations, particularly those relevant to Welsh qualifications, and the ability to interpret and implement these within a school setting. The Exams Officer ensures that all examination procedures uphold the integrity, security, and fairness of the assessment process, maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality at all times. A key aspect of the role is supporting and promoting the Welsh-medium ethos of the school. The post holder works closely with teaching staff, senior leaders, and support teams to ensure that pupils are fully prepared for examinations and that any access arrangements are effectively coordinated and implemented. The Exams Officer also acts as the primary liaison between the school and external awarding bodies, ensuring clear and timely communication, accurate data management, and adherence to deadlines. The role involves managing examination timetables, coordinating invigilation arrangements, and responding proactively to any issues or disruptions that may arise.

Job Specification

        • Plan, coordinate, and manage all aspects of internal and external examinations
        • Liaise with awarding bodies
        • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of examination regulations and ensure full compliance.
        • Organise examination timetables and communicate schedules clearly to staff and pupils (in Welsh and English where appropriate).
        • Provide clear instructions and support to invigilation staff.
        • Ability to communicate fluently in Welsh (spoken and written).
        • Problem-solving and decision-making skills
