Job Description

A specialist SEND school in North Liverpool is looking to appoint a motivated and caring SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people with additional needs, with the potential for a permanent position for the right candidate.

The school supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and is seeking someone who can provide stability & encouragement throughout the school day. The successful candidate will play an important role in helping pupils build confidence, regulate emotions, and engage positively in learning.

The Role

• Provide tailored support to pupils on a 1:1 basis and within small group settings
• Support students in overcoming barriers to learning and emotional regulation
• Use positive behaviour strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging situations
• Work closely with as a team with other teachers and pastoral staff to create a safe learning environment
• Encourage pupil participation and social development

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience working within a SEND, SEMH, or alternative provision setting is desirable
• Confident managing challenging behaviour
• A background in sports coaching or similar transferable experience
• Resilient & empathetic to supporting vulnerable young people
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
