New Directions Education is currently recruiting dedicated Early Years (EYFS) Teaching Assistants to work on a supply basis across a range of welcoming and supportive primary schools in Harrogate.
About the Role
As an EYFS Teaching Assistant on supply, you will support young learners in Nursery and Reception settings, helping to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment.
You will play a key role in supporting children’s early development, learning through play, and building strong foundations in communication, social skills, and independence.

Key Responsibilities
Support children in Nursery and Reception classes
Assist with play-based learning activities aligned with the EYFS framework
Support children’s social, emotional, and communication development
Work with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment
Support early development in phonics, numeracy, and fine/gross motor skills
Build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents
What We’re Looking For
Experience working with young children in an EYFS setting (school, nursery, or childcare)
A warm, nurturing, and patient approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A good understanding of the EYFS framework (desirable)
A flexible and proactive attitude to working in different schools
A genuine passion for supporting early childhood development
Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Childcare or Teaching Assistant) are desirable but not essential.
