The Exams Officer is responsible for the strategic planning, organisation, administration, and secure delivery of all internal and external examinations across the institution. The postholder will ensure that all examinations and assessments are conducted efficiently, accurately, and in full compliance with awarding body, regulatory, and institutional requirements.
The role involves managing the complete examination cycle, including candidate registrations, examination entries, timetabling, invigilation arrangements, access arrangements, results processing, and post-results services. The Exams Officer acts as the primary point of contact for awarding organisations, academic departments, students, parents/carers (where appropriate), and external agencies regarding all examination matters.
Previous Exams Officer or examinations management experience within a school, college, university, or awarding organisation is essential, along with the ability to work effectively under pressure during peak examination periods while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and organisational standards.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Previous Exams Officer, examinations administration, or examinations management experience within a school, college, university, or awarding organisation is essential.
Proven experience managing examination processes, deadlines, and compliance requirements.
Strong understanding of examination regulations and awarding body procedures.
Experience coordinating staff, invigilators, and examination logistics.
Desirable
Experience working with awarding bodies such as Pearson, AQA, OCR, or JCQ.
Experience using MIS and student record systems such as SIMS, EBS, ProSolution, Banner, or Tribal.
Line management or team leadership experience
Knowledge of access arrangements and special consideration processes.
