New Directions Education is currently recruiting Cover Supervisors to work across a number of Special Educational Needs (SEN) settings in Wakefield.
This rewarding role is ideal for individuals who have experience working with children or young people with additional needs and are confident leading classes in the teacher’s absence. The Role
As a Cover Supervisor within an SEN setting, you will:
Deliver pre-planned lessons and learning activities in the absence of the class teacher.
Support pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, and complex learning needs.
Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
Manage classroom behaviour using positive and supportive strategies.
Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs where required.
Encourage engagement, confidence, and independence.
Work closely with teaching assistants, SENCOs, and wider support staff to ensure the best outcomes for learners.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re keen to hear from candidates who have:
– Experience working with children or young people with SEN. – Strong communication and relationship-building skills. – The confidence to lead a classroom and engage learners. – A calm, patient, and resilient approach. – Excellent behaviour management skills. – A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.
