We are seeking a compassionate, resilient and committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Key Stage 3 pupil within our Pupil Referral Unit in L28, Knowsley.

A minimum Level 2 British Sign Language (BSL) qualification is an essential requirement for this role.
Key Responsibilities
Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a KS3 pupil throughout the school day.
Use British Sign Language (BSL) to facilitate effective communication and access to learning.
Support the pupil’s academic, social and emotional development.
Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and other professionals to implement individual support plans.
Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence.
Adapt learning activities to meet the pupil’s individual needs.
Build positive, trusting relationships with the pupil, their family and the wider staff team.
Contribute to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils.
Essential Requirements
Minimum Level 2 British Sign Language (BSL) qualification.
Experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school or specialist setting.
Understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Calm, patient and adaptable approach.
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Desirable
Experience working within a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), alternative provision or specialist educational setting.
Knowledge of trauma-informed practice.
Team Teach, PRICE or other positive behaviour support training (or willingness to undertake training).
