New Directions are seeking a Teaching Assistant to work in a secondary SEMH school in Manchester. The role will start from October half term and continue for the remainder of the academic year, supporting pupils with their learning, behaviour and emotional development.
The Role
Supporting pupils across the secondary age range with their learning and development.
Working closely with teachers and the wider school team to provide classroom support.
Supporting pupils with SEMH needs and helping them to engage positively with education.
Providing 1:1 and small group support where required.
Supporting pupils who may display challenging or disregulated behaviour.
Helping pupils develop positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.
Building positive and consistent relationships with pupils.
Supporting learning across the curriculum and helping pupils to remain engaged.
Following school behaviour and safeguarding policies.
The Candidate
Previous experience working with children is essential.
Experience working in a school setting is highly desirable.
Experience supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour is essential.
Confident managing behaviour and remaining calm in challenging situations.
Experience within an SEMH, SEND, PRU, AP or similar setting would be beneficial.
Able to build positive relationships with pupils and establish clear boundaries.
Patient, consistent and adaptable in their approach.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Committed to safeguarding and supporting the wellbeing of young people.
Available to start from October half term and commit to the remainder of the academic year.
