New Directions is seeking dedicated and compassionate PMLD Teaching Assistants to join specialist settings across Leeds from September. This full‑time role is ideal for someone with previous experience in education who is confident supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities.
The Role
Providing high‑quality, personalised support to pupils with complex physical, sensory, medical and cognitive needs
Assisting with individualised learning programmes, including sensory‑based activities, communication development and structured routines
Supporting pupils with personal care, mobility, feeding and medical needs (training provided where required)
Using specialist equipment such as hoists, switches, sensory resources and communication aids
Working closely with teachers and therapists to deliver consistent, holistic support
Creating a calm, nurturing environment that promotes engagement, comfort and wellbeing
Maintaining accurate records and contributing to personalised support plans
Essential Requirements
Previous experience in an education setting
Understanding of SEN and a willingness to develop specialist PMLD skills
Compassion, patience and a calm, reliable approach
Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
