Cover Supervisor, Torfaen

Job Description

New Directions Education is recruiting enthusiastic and confident Cover Supervisors to work in secondary schools across Pontypool and the surrounding areas. As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes during teacher absences, ensuring students remain focused, engaged, and on task while completing pre-set work.

This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals with leadership, supervisory, or management experience who are looking to transfer their skills into an educational setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise classes of students aged 11–16 in the absence of the classroom teacher.
• Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and instructions.
• Maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
• Manage classroom behaviour in accordance with school policies.
• Ensure students remain engaged and complete assigned work.
• Report any concerns or incidents to school staff.

Requirements

• Previous experience supervising a team, group, or department or experience in a management, leadership, or supervisory role.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Confidence managing groups of young people.
• Ability to remain calm, professional, and organised in a classroom environment.
• A proactive and adaptable approach to work.
• Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
• Right to work in the UK.
