Job Description

New Directions are currently recruiting for an English Teacher to join a secondary school in Sefton. This is a full-time, long-term position starting in September, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. ECTs are encouraged to apply.

The Role:

  • Full-time teaching position delivering English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, including preparation for GCSE English Language and Literature.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, accessible lessons that develop reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills tailored to meet the needs of learners with diverse abilities and backgrounds.
  • Use a variety of teaching resources and strategies to motivate pupils, especially those facing social and economic challenges.

The Ideal Teacher:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Have recent, relevant experience teaching English at secondary level.
  • Demonstrate a passion for supporting disadvantaged pupils and improving literacy outcomes.
  • Be able to provide a school-based reference within the last 5 years.
