Job Description

A welcoming and forward-thinking primary school in St.Helens is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Early Career Teacher (ECT) to join their Key Stage 1 team, teaching a Year 2 class starting in September. This is a full-time role with the opportunity to complete your ECT induction and the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate teacher at the start of their career to develop within a supportive environment. The school offers strong leadership support from an experienced SLT and provides extensive outdoor learning opportunities to enrich the curriculum. You will also benefit from guidance from an experienced KS1 Lead, particularly when preparing pupils for the phonics screening check.

The Role

• Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons for a Year 1 class in line with the national curriculum
• Create a positive, inclusive, and well-structured classroom environment
• Deliver daily phonics sessions, using the Read Write Inc. programme (training can be provided)
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance teaching and learning

The Ideal Candidate

• Holds (or is on track to achieve) Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Is an Early Career Teacher looking to complete their induction
• Has an interest in or some experience of teaching phonics (Read Write Inc. desirable but not essential)
• Is committed to supporting pupils in early reading and phonics development.

Requirements

• References covering the last 5 years
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
