Job Description

New Directions is looking for a qualified English teacher to work in a high achieving Secondary School in the Wirral area.  You will need to implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and appropriately differentiated curriculum for all the students across key stages 3 to 5. Each member of staff is expected to take full responsibility for developing their subject are through regular meetings with their department Head and other members of the team.

Each student’s progress is regularly monitored in order to support their overall progress and development; these records need to be accurate and kept up to date electronically.  You will be expected to use this information to inform your planning and preparation throughout the year.  This process will help you to facilitate and encourage a learning experience that provides students with the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

This school is looking to recruit a teacher specialising in either Language or Literature but regardless of your specialism, you need to be able to cover both areas.

Job Specification

  • Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, supporting colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area
  • Stay up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum
  • Take part in school events and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening
  • Liaise with colleagues and working flexibly, particularly within smaller schools.
