Job Description

New Directions Education are currently recruiting a qualified English teacher on behalf of a Comprehensive School based in Torfaen. This is a well established mainstream secondary school providing education for pupils aged between 11-18.

The school is renowned for its high standards and continuous academic excellence. The English department are currently seeking a highly skilled teacher to provide an innovative & effective learning experience. The ideal candidate must:

  • Have a genuine passion for Literature & Lanuguage;
  • Be EWC registered;
  • Be able to teach Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4) and ideally have experience at Key Stage (KS5);
  • Have a clear DBS;
  • Newly Qualified Teachers (NQT’s) are welcome to apply for this role.

Job Specification

Whether your speciality is language, literature or both we recruit a variety of roles in English Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4).

As an English Teacher you’ll be expected to:

  • Teach all areas of the school curriculum or your subject specialism
  • Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive teaching environment
  • Plan, prepare and teach lessons that cater for all student ability ranges
  • Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation
  • Maintain discipline
  • Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils’ development
  • Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, supporting colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area
  • Stay up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum
  • Take part in school events and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening
  • Liaise with colleagues and working flexibly, particularly within smaller schools.
