Are you a Psychology Graduate, Childhood Studies Graduate, Education Studies Graduate, or someone with a Special Educational Needs (SEN) background looking to gain valuable school-based experience?
We work closely with a number of specialist SEND schools across Chester and the Wirral who are seeking compassionate, enthusiastic, and dedicated Teaching Assistants to support pupils with a range of additional needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for graduates considering careers in educational psychology, teaching, counselling, social work, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, or other child-focused professions.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom. You will help create a positive learning environment, build meaningful relationships with students, and contribute to the smooth running of the school day.
Responsibilities may include:
Supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
Building positive relationships and establishing trust with children and young people
Assisting with learning activities and classroom engagement
Supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs
Encouraging emotional regulation and positive behaviour
Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider school staff
Providing one-to-one and small group support where required
We Would Love to Hear From You If You Have:
A degree in Psychology, Childhood Studies, Education Studies, SEN, or a related subject
Experience supporting children or young people in any capacity
Worked with children experiencing mental health challenges, anxiety, trauma, or SEMH needs
Experience working with students who have been home educated or are returning to education following periods of absence
Supported young people on reduced timetables or those requiring additional emotional and behavioural support
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
