Learning Support Assistant – ALN, Cardiff

Job Description

We are looking for a Learning Support Assistant to work with pupils in a Primary School in St Mellons, Cardiff.

Working hours are 8.30am-3.30pm Monday – Friday during term time. Parking is also available on site for staff to use on a first come first served basis.

You will be working with pupils on a 1-2-1 basis across multiple classes, who require extra support with basics English and Maths. They may also need help focusing in lesson times and have access to additional learning tools to help them reach their maximum potential. The successful candidate will need to implement inventive learning techniques to engage the pupil, some with socialising difficulties, and general additional learning needs.

You will have:

• Good understanding of English language
• A proactive attitude
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills
• Capability to monitor behavioural needs and support pupils with low self-esteem
• A calm demeanour and encouraging nature
• Commitment

You will need:

• A minimum of 3 months child-based experience
• Contactable references
• A Child and Adult DBS – or be willing to undertake one via New Directions
• A willingness to complete mandatory training when required
