Learning Support Assistant – ALN, Cardiff

Job Description

We are currently looking for a Learning Support Assistants to support vulnerable pupils with learning disabilities in a special well-being unit based in a Primary school in Lakeside. Full and part time hours are available, working between 8.30am-3.30pm Monday to Friday during term time.

You will be supporting children who are on the autism spectrum, providing a care and support in a classroom setting. The successful candidate will need to implement creative learning techniques to engage with pupils, who use different strategies to learn which focuses on communicating and interacting and relating to others.

An important part of this role is to build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupils, you will need to have a calm demeanour and be committed, as well as encouraging.

You will have:

• Good understanding of Additional Learning Needs
• A proactive attitude
• Capability to monitor the children’s needs and requirements
• A calm demeanour and encouraging nature
• Commitment

You will need:

• A minimum of 3 months child-based experience
• Contactable references
• A Child and Adult DBS – or be willing to undertake one via New Directions
• A willingness to complete mandatory training when required
