Learning Support Assistant – ALN, Cardiff

Job Description

We are currently looking for a Teaching Assistant to supports pupils in a busy Primary School in Ely, Cardiff on a full-time basis.

You will be supporting across foundation phase and key stage 2 classes, assisting with additional reading, writing and numeracy. This is a busy school with lots of going on, therefore the successful candidate will need be enthusiastic and show initiative. In return they will help support you with training usually only offered to their permanent staff members.

An important part of this role is to build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupils, who could potentially have low self-esteem and behaviour needs. The successful candidate will need to have a calm demeanour and be committed, as well as encouraging.

You will have:

• Good understanding of English language
• A proactive attitude
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills
• Capability to monitor behavioural needs and support pupils with low self-esteem
• A calm demeanour and encouraging nature
• Commitment

You will need:

• A minimum of 3 months child-based experience
• Contactable references
• A Child and Adult DBS – or be willing to undertake one via New Directions
• A willingness to complete mandatory training when required
