Job Description

Title: Learning Support Assistant (Year 2)
Location: Wirral
Start Date: ASAP, Ongoing Basis
Contract: Full-Time, 5 Days a Week

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Learning Support Assistant to join a lovely school in the Wirral area on an ongoing basis, providing tailored support to students in Year 2. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the learning and development of young learners through both one-to-one support and small group interventions.

Key Responsibilities:
– Providing one-to-one and small group support to students with additional learning needs
– Collaborating with the class teacher to develop and implement individualised learning plans
– Assisting in the delivery of engaging and differentiated learning activities
– Encouraging the social and emotional development of students, fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment
– Communicating regularly with parents and caregivers to provide updates on student progress

Essential Requirements:
– Experience working with children in an educational setting, particularly in providing one-to-one support
– A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to supporting students with diverse learning needs
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents
– A genuine passion for contributing to the holistic development of young learners

Desirable Requirements:
– Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or special educational needs
– Knowledge of strategies for supporting children with specific learning difficulties, including phonics and numeracy interventions

Teaching or classroom assistants are now vital resources for teachers and are heavily relied upon in schools.

We’ll also consider experienced learning support assistants (LSAs) who have previously held a job in a primary school or assisted a pupil in the role in a secondary school but do not hold any of the above qualifications.

As a teaching assistant you’ll be expected to:

  • Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the head teacher, ALNCO and class teachers

  • Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
  • Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
  • Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills
