Job Description

New Directions Education have been approached by a Powys based secondary school to source a passionate and enthusiastic Teacher to join their Modern Foreign Languages department.

Here at New Directions Education we are a preferred supplier of educational supply staff across Wales and subsequently Powys LEA. The successful applicant will be part of the schools core team and will demonstrate the ability to teach up to GCSE level. They will be fully committed to achieving the highest standards of teaching and learning for all pupils.

The School have stressed that all levels of experience are welcome to apply for this role inclusive of Newly Qualified Teachers (NQT).

Requirements include

  • EWC registration
  • DBS (ND can provide if necessary)
  • Subject knowledge up to GCSE (not essential but preferred)

Job Specification

The main languages taught by Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Teachers include French, German, and Spanish. Other languages taught include Italian, Russian, Mandarin, Japanese, Urdu and Bengali. There’s a shortage of teachers available in these priority subjects and a high demand for high-calibre talent to take on the challenge.

As a Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Teacher you’ll be expected to:

  • Teach all areas of the school curriculum or your subject specialism
  • Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive teaching environment
  • Plan, prepare and teach lessons that cater for all student ability ranges
  • Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation
  • Maintain discipline
  • Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils’ development
  • Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, supporting colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area
  • Staying up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum
  • Take part in school events and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening
  • Liaise with colleagues and working flexibly, particularly within smaller schools.
