Job Description

New Directions Education and looking to appoint a hardworking and professional School Administrator, to cover long-term temporary positions in Primary Schools in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

All applicants must be flexible, reliable, and adaptable to the needs of each school. Due to the nature of the roles being temporary, applicants must be willing to work in different schools in the area, covering internal absences such as sickness and maternity.

The positions available are full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:30am – 4pm, term-time only.

Our clients are seeking applicants with previous experience working within a primary or secondary school office. Experience using the School Information Management System (SIMS) is essential, and some experience paying invoices and collating school dinners is highly desirable.

The successful candidate will be required to work independently and must be well organised, and confident overseeing the day-to-day running of a busy primary school office. As the first point of contact for the school, excellent verbal and written communication is essential.

Job Specification

We recruit a wide variety of School Office Staff roles, including school secretaries, receptionists, administrators, and school clerks.

Duties are varied and may include the following:

  • Receptionist duties such as answering the phone and welcoming visitors
  • Administrative duties such as typing letters, sorting post, managing emails
  • Dealing with school meals administration, ordering stationery, paying invoices, handling monies, printing and photocopying and managing schools systems like SIMS

School Office Staff must be well organised as well as having excellent verbal and written communication skills. They must also be able to work well under pressure and be able to prioritise tasks.

Candidates will ideally have previous experience working within a school office. Working knowledge of SIMS system is advantageous.

Schools will expect all school support staff to have a good standard of education, some previous office work experience and ideally previous experience working within an educational setting.
