Job Description

New Directions Education are looking to appoint a professional and experienced School Administrator, to provide temporary support to primary schools in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

All applicants must be available to work full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm, term-time only. Due to the nature of the roles being temporary, applicants should be flexible and willing to work in different schools in the area, covering long and short term internal staff absences such as sickness and maternity.

Our clients are seeking adaptable and knowledgeable individuals and previous experience using the School Information Management System (SIMS) is essential. Previous experience dealing with school finances is also highly desirable.

The successful candidate will be required to work independently, overseeing the day to day running of the busy school office. Applicants must be confident in the role and have excellent communication skills, as you will be the first point of contact for parents, pupils, staff and visitors.

Job Specification

We recruit a wide variety of School Office Staff roles, including school secretaries, receptionists, administrators, and school clerks.

Duties are varied and may include the following:

  • Receptionist duties such as answering the phone and welcoming visitors
  • Administrative duties such as typing letters, sorting post, managing emails
  • Dealing with school meals administration, ordering stationery, paying invoices, handling monies, printing and photocopying and managing schools systems like SIMS

School Office Staff must be well organised as well as having excellent verbal and written communication skills. They must also be able to work well under pressure and be able to prioritise tasks.

Candidates will ideally have previous experience working within a school office. Working knowledge of SIMS system is advantageous.

Schools will expect all school support staff to have a good standard of education, some previous office work experience and ideally previous experience working within an educational setting.
