New Directions are looking to appoint an experienced School Caretaker to work on a relief basis in primary schools in Central Cardiff.
Due to the nature of relief work, all Caretakers should be flexible and reliable and willing to work in different schools covering temporary absences such as long and short term sickness. The working hours will be split-shifts, such as 7 am – 10 am and 2:30 pm – 6:30 pm.
Our clients are seeking applicants who have previously worked in schools and have key-holding experience. Excellent awareness of health and safety and experience Legionella testing would also be beneficial.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Covering long and short term absences within various schools in the area
Acting as the main key-holder for the school, securing the premises and opening and closing the school for pupils and staff
Overseeing all general maintenance, repairs, painting and decorating on site
Organising external contractors for major work
Assisting with cleaning duties such as litter picking, emptying bins etc.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Caretaker to pick up flexible relief work in various local schools and work as an integral part of the team.
Caretakers are responsible for looking after a school site including the buildings and grounds.
The duties of a school Caretaker include:
General maintenance and minor repairs
Liaising with contractors
Managing heating and alarm systems
Opening and closing the school
Caretakers must be honest, reliable and trustworthy. They must be able to work well on their own using their own initiative, as well as working within a larger team.
Candidates will ideally have previous caretaking experience; however New Directions will consider candidates who have a background in maintenance, decorating, facilities or security.
It’s mandatory that caretakers have a clear DBS either registered with the Update Service or a New Directions DBS.
