We are looking to appoint a hardworking and reliable School Caretaker, to work on a relief basis in primary schools in the Penarth area.
Due to the nature of relief work, all applicants must be flexible and will ideally have access to transport, as the position will involve working in various schools in the area covering temporary staff absences such as long or short term sickness.
Primary school caretakers will be required to work split-shifts such as 6am – 10am and 3pm – 6pm to open the school in the morning and lock up at the end of the day. There may also be some requirement to work during school holidays.
All applicants should have previous experience working in caretaking, building or maintenance with transferrable skills. An excellent awareness of health and safety is also essential.

Caretakers must be honest, reliable and trustworthy. They must be able to work well on their own using their own initiative, as well as working within a larger team.
Candidates will ideally have previous caretaking experience; however New Directions will consider candidates who have a background in maintenance, decorating, facilities or security.
It’s mandatory that caretakers have a clear DBS either registered with the Update Service or a New Directions DBS.
