New Directions Education is recruiting passionate, supportive, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to work within local specialist provisions, supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support learners who need patience, understanding, and consistent encouragement to succeed both academically and emotionally.
We’d love to hear from you if you:
Have experience or knowledge of trauma‑informed practice and therapeutic behaviour support
Are Team‑Teach trained or have experience with other behaviour intervention approaches
Have a calm, empathetic, and patient nature
Feel confident supporting behaviour and helping pupils regulate emotions
Your role will include:
Supporting pupils across Key Stages 2, 3 and 4
Working 1:1 or in small groups, offering tailored support
Assisting the class teacher to create a calm, structured, and nurturing environment
Encouraging emotional regulation, positive behaviour, and engagement with learning
Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and external professionals
