An exciting opportunity has arisen for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Sefton.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and the SEND department to provide tailored support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them access learning, build confidence and develop independence.
The Role
Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with a range of SEND needs.
Support teachers with differentiated and engaging learning activities.
Help students with their academic progress, emotional wellbeing, social development and independence.
Promote positive behaviour and engagement in the classroom.
Build strong, positive relationships with students.
Work alongside teachers, the SENDCO, parents/carers and other professionals to support students’ needs.
The Ideal Candidate
Previous experience supporting young people with SEND is desirable.
Patient, caring and proactive approach.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Resilient, adaptable and confident supporting students with additional needs.
Passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and reach their potential.
Minimum Requirements
DBS on the Update Service or willing to apply for a new DBS.
References covering the last 5 years.
Right to work in the UK.
Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
