New Directions are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher to join a specialist SEND secondary school in Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and helping them to achieve their full potential.
This is a full-time role starting in September 2026 and will continue on a long-term basis. The successful candidate will teach secondary-aged pupils who are working significantly below age-related expectations and will be delivering a primary-style curriculum tailored to meet their individual learning needs.
We are looking for a teacher with a strong understanding of the primary curriculum and experience working with pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
The Role
• Plan, deliver and assess engaging lessons based on the primary curriculum for secondary-aged pupils
• Adapt teaching strategies and learning activities to meet a wide range of SEND needs
• Create a positive, nurturing and inclusive learning environment where pupils can thrive
• Support pupils’ academic, social, emotional and communication development
• Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for pupils
• Monitor and track pupil progress, celebrating achievements and identifying next steps for learning
The Candidate
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
• Strong knowledge and understanding of the primary curriculum
• Previous experience working with pupils with SEND is highly desirable
• Experience within a specialist SEND setting, alternative provision or mainstream school with SEND responsibilities is advantageous
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Patient, adaptable and committed to meeting the individual needs of pupils
• A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
