Job Description

New Directions are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in Partington. This is a full-time position to start as soon as possible, with the opportunity to progress from a temporary placement to a permanent role for the right candidate.

The school supports young people aged 10–17 with a range of additional needs. Although the pupils are secondary-aged, they are working at EYFS level, so a strong understanding of the EYFS curriculum is essential. The school will be relocating to Altrincham in September, therefore candidates must be drivers and have access to their own transport.

We are looking for individuals who have strong SEND experience or who are confident supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs.

The Role
• Support pupils aged 10–17 who are working at EYFS level across a range of learning activities
• Deliver tailored support on a one-to-one and small group basis
• Assist teachers in implementing engaging and differentiated learning opportunities
• Support pupils’ communication, social, emotional and academic development
• Create a positive, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
• Work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to meet individual pupil needs

The Candidate
• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND is essential
• A good understanding of the EYFS curriculum and child development
• Must be a driver with access to a vehicle due to the school’s relocation to Altrincham in September
• Experience working within a SEND school, specialist provision or similar setting is highly desirable
• Patient, resilient and adaptable with a nurturing approach
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
