A lively and vibrant mainstream primary school in Balsall Heath is in need of a Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching assistant to work across the Early Years (Reception) and Key Stage 1 (Year 1 and 2). The school takes great pride in it’s ability to cater to all pupils individual needs; having opened another resource hub, they now have two resource hubs in total. The hubs support children with high needs relating to speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) Autism, sensory dysregulation, emotional dysregulation and other needs.
The school requires an individual with high levels of resilience and attendance along with the ability to quickly build trusting and positive relationships with young children. Children, especially those with additional learning needs, need adults they can depend on and feel safe and comfortable with to develop, learn and thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting learning and development within whole group learning as well as 1:1 small group activities
Carry out and report back on 1:1/small group activities and tasks
Working as part of a team with the teacher and TAs in the class and the wider school staff
Providing feedback to the teacher and parents
Essential Person Requirements
Open and engaging personality
Experience working with children is essential, ages 4-7 years are preferable
Experience supporting children and/or young people with SEND needs
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or we can put one in place for you)
Two satisfactory references covering a minimum of two years
