New Directions Education is seeking compassionate and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants (1:1) to join supportive mainstream primary schools across Cheshire East. In this role, you’ll work closely with children who need a little extra help to thrive in school, providing tailored support for pupils with moderate learning difficulties, dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism, ADHD, behavioural needs, and speech and language needs. What the role involves
Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a child with additional needs.
Helping the pupil engage with lessons by adapting resources, breaking down tasks, and using strategies matched to their individual learning style.
Encouraging independence and celebrating achievements to build resilience and confidence.
Supporting social communication, emotional wellbeing, and positive behaviour in and out of the classroom.
Working in partnership with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to provide consistent, high-quality support.
Being proactive, flexible, and creative in finding ways to help the pupil thrive across all areas of school life.
About you
Has experience of supporting children, ideally those with additional or special educational needs.
Brings patience, empathy, and resilience to every interaction.
Can communicate effectively with staff, parents, and outside agencies.
Is adaptable and able to use a range of strategies to support learning and behaviour.
Is committed to safeguarding and to helping every child feel safe, included, and valued.

As a teaching assistant you’ll be expected to:
Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the head teacher, ALNCO and class teachers
Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes (IEP) for students and help monitor their progress
Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
