Job Description

New Directions Education are currently recruiting for a Trainee Care Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in Kirkby. This full-time, long-term role offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities.

The School:

The Role:
• Support teaching staff in delivering personalised learning and care programmes for pupils with SEND.
• Assist with daily care routines including personal care, mobility, feeding, and emotional support—candidates must be comfortable providing intimate personal care.
• Help create a safe and positive learning environment that fosters confidence and independence.
• Use transferable skills from care, psychology, nursing, or related backgrounds to build trusting relationships and support pupil wellbeing.

The Ideal Candidate:
• Has experience or a strong interest in care, psychology, nursing, or working with children with SEND or other vulnerable groups.
• Is compassionate, patient, and comfortable supporting children with intimate personal care needs.
• Can provide a reference covering relevant experience within the last 5 years.
• Is willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS check on the update service.
