New Directions are seeking a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Bowdon. This is a full-time role starting in September 2026 and will initially continue until December, with the potential for the role to be extended.
The successful candidate will work within a Year 2 classroom, supporting pupils with their learning, development and day-to-day classroom activities. Previous experience working with children is essential, although this does not have to have been within a school setting. A Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.
The Role
• Support the class teacher with the delivery of engaging and inclusive lessons within Year 2
• Provide one-to-one and small group support to help pupils access the curriculum
• Support pupils with phonics, reading, writing and numeracy activities
• Encourage pupils’ confidence, independence and positive behaviour
• Assist with classroom activities, preparation and organisation
• Create a positive, nurturing and stimulating learning environment
• Work closely with the class teacher to support pupil progress and wellbeing
The Candidate
• Previous experience working with children is essential
• Previous experience within a primary school is desirable but not essential
• A Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential
• A positive, patient and enthusiastic approach to supporting children’s learning
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• A genuine passion for helping children achieve their potential
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
