New Directions are seeking a Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Wythenshawe. This is a full-time role starting as soon as possible and will initially continue until Christmas 2026, with the potential for the placement to be extended.
The Role
Supporting the class teacher with lessons and day-to-day classroom activities across Year 5.
Providing 1:1 and small group support where required.
Supporting pupils with literacy, numeracy, reading and the wider Year 5 curriculum.
Delivering targeted interventions to help pupils close learning gaps and make progress.
Supporting pupils to build confidence, independence and positive behaviour.
Helping to create a safe and inclusive classroom environment.
Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team to support pupil progress.
The Candidate
Previous experience working with children is essential.
Primary school experience is desirable, with KS2 experience particularly beneficial.
A Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
Patient, approachable and able to support pupils with different learning needs.
Committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children.
