About the Roles

We are currently recruiting multiple SEND Teaching Assistants to support a range of primary and secondary settings across East Leeds. These roles involve supporting pupils with a variety of needs, including:

  • Autism (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Speech, Language & Communication Needs
  • Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
  • Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH)
  • Complex or multiple learning needs

Positions are available on a temp‑to‑perm basis, offering a clear pathway to long‑term opportunities within supportive and inclusive school environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver 1:1 or small‑group support tailored to individual EHCPs
  • Promote engagement, confidence, and independence in learning
  • Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and sensory needs
  • Adapt activities and resources to suit different learning styles
  • Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists
  • Provide consistent, calm behaviour and emotional support
  • Track and report progress, engagement, and areas of need

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND (school, youth work, residential, or care backgrounds welcome)
  • A nurturing, patient, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly and think creatively
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people to thrive
  • Training such as Team Teach, Autism Awareness, Makaton, or SEND‑specific CPD is advantageous but not essential
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
