New Directions are currently recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant to work in an Outstanding specialist primary SEND setting based in North Manchester, starting as soon as possible. This is a full-time, long-term role with the potential for a permanent position for the right candidate.

An Outstanding specialist primary SEND setting dedicated to supporting children with a wide range of complex learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and additional needs.
Provides a highly nurturing, child-centred environment where every pupil receives personalised support to help them achieve their individual potential.
Works closely with therapists, healthcare professionals, and families to deliver a holistic approach to education, communication, and personal development.
The Role:
Full-time SEND Teaching Assistant role, providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), complex medical needs, autism, and physical disabilities, including wheelchair users.
Support pupils using a range of communication methods such as PECS, Makaton, AAC devices, visual timetables, and sensory-based approaches, while assisting with mobility, moving and handling, and personal care where required.
Work closely with teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team to implement EHCP targets, encourage independence, promote engagement in learning, and ensure every child can access a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment.
The Candidate:
A Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
Experience supporting children or young people with complex SEND, PMLD, autism, physical disabilities, or medical needs is highly desirable. We also welcome applications from candidates with backgrounds in care, support work, nursing, psychology, or therapy who are passionate about making a positive difference in specialist education.
