Secondary Teaching Assistant, Leeds

Job Description

New Directions Education is currently recruiting enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistants to support a number of secondary schools across the Leeds area.

We are looking for individuals with previous classroom experience who are passionate about helping young people succeed. While full-time availability is preferred due to the needs of our schools, we are also happy to consider candidates seeking part-time or flexible working arrangements.

The Role

As a Secondary Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support students across Key Stages 3 and 4 within the classroom.
• Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging and effective learning experiences.
• Provide one-to-one and small group support to students who require additional assistance.
• Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and productive learning environment.
• Support students with varying academic abilities and additional learning needs.
• Assist with classroom management and behaviour support.
• Encourage pupil engagement, confidence, and independence.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

– Previous experience working within a classroom environment.
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
– The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
– A patient, adaptable, and proactive approach.
– Confidence supporting learners across a range of subjects.
– A genuine passion for education and helping young people achieve their potential.

Experience supporting students with SEN, SEMH, or additional learning needs would be advantageous but is not essential.
