New Directions Education is seeking compassionate, resilient, and dedicated individuals to work as SEN Teaching Assistants within a range of educational settings. This is a fantastic opportunity for candidates with experience in residential care, support work, mental health services, youth work, nursing, or social care who are looking to make a positive impact in the lives of children and young people with Special Educational Needs.

The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to pupils with a variety of needs, including:
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
ADHD
Speech and Language Difficulties
Moderate and Complex Learning Needs
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting pupils on a one-to-one and small group basis
Building positive and trusting relationships with students
Encouraging engagement in learning and classroom activities
Assisting with emotional regulation and behaviour support strategies
Supporting personal, social, and academic development
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to meet individual needs
Promoting a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
What We’re Looking For
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in:
Residential childcare
Care work and support work
Youth work
Mental health support
Nursing or healthcare settings
Working with vulnerable individuals
The ideal candidate will have:
A caring, patient, and empathetic nature
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
The ability to remain calm under pressure
A genuine desire to support children and young people with additional needs
A proactive and positive attitude
Previous experience supporting individuals with additional needs is desirable but not essential
