R.E Teacher – St Helens – September to Easter term, St Helens

Job Description

A fantastic opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable R.E Teacher to join a secondary school in St Helens from September through to Easter. This role would be well suited to a teacher who is passionate about Religious Education and can inspire pupils through engaging, thought-provoking lessons.

The successful candidate will teach R.E across KS3 and KS4, helping pupils develop their knowledge, critical thinking, and understanding of a range of religious, ethical, and philosophical topics. You will become part of a supportive school environment where high-quality teaching and positive pupil outcomes are valued.

The Role

• Deliver well-planned and engaging R.E lessons across KS3 and KS4, ensuring content is accessible to pupils of varying abilities.
• Develop lessons that encourage pupils to think critically, ask questions, and engage confidently with different perspectives.
• Maintain a positive and purposeful classroom where pupils are motivated to participate and achieve.
• Assess pupil progress and provide clear feedback to support continued academic development.
• Work alongside colleagues within the department to contribute to a consistent and effective curriculum.
• Build positive relationships with pupils while maintaining high expectations for behaviour and achievement.

The Ideal Candidate

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
• Has experience teaching R.E at KS3 and KS4 within a secondary school environment.
• Possesses strong subject knowledge and can deliver lessons that are both informative and engaging.
• Is confident in managing classroom behaviour and creating an inclusive learning environment.
• Is dependable, adaptable, and able to establish positive working relationships with pupils and staff.
• Has a genuine enthusiasm for Religious Education and a commitment to supporting pupils’ progress.

Requirements

• References covering the previous 5 years.
• Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Previous experience teaching R.E across KS3 and KS4.
• Availability from September through to Easter for the duration of the placement.
