The Role

As an SEMH Teacher, you’ll play a vital role in creating a safe, structured and engaging learning environment where students can thrive both academically and personally.

Your responsibilities will include:

– Delivering engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs

– Building positive relationships with pupils who may display challenging behaviours

– Supporting students to develop emotional regulation, confidence and self-esteem

– Working closely with support staff, pastoral teams and external professionals

– Implementing behaviour strategies and individual learning plans

– Creating a nurturing classroom environment that encourages progress and achievement

– Helping students re-engage with education and reach their potential

What We’re Looking For

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
• Previous experience teaching young people with SEMH needs, SEND or within alternative provisions is highly desirable
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
• A calm, patient and empathetic approach
• The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
