The Role:

As a Trainee SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and experienced support staff to help pupils access learning, build confidence and achieve their full potential. No two days will be the same, making this an exciting and rewarding opportunity for someone eager to make a difference.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with a range of SEND needs within the classroom.
  • Assist with one-to-one and small group interventions.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Encourage pupil participation and independence.
  • Support students with their social and emotional development.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff.
  • Adapt learning resources to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Promote the wellbeing and safety of all students.

Requirements:

  • A genuine interest in working with children and young people.
  • A positive, patient and caring attitude.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Previous experience working with children is beneficial but not essential.
  • Experience in care, youth work, coaching or customer-facing roles would be advantageous.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one, is essential.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
