Job Description

New Directions Education are currently recruiting Behaviour Mentors for primary schools across Helsby and the surrounding areas, supporting students who may need additional guidance with their behaviour, emotional wellbeing and engagement with learning.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience working with children or young people who are passionate about helping students develop confidence, resilience and positive strategies for managing challenges.

Due to the nature of these opportunities, candidates must be able to commit to working 3 or more days per week.

The Role:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to students
• Supporting students with behaviour and emotional regulation
• Building positive and trusting relationships with students
• Helping students engage positively with learning
• Encouraging positive behaviour and social development
• Supporting students to develop confidence and resilience
• Using appropriate strategies to help students manage challenging situations
• Working closely with teachers and wider school staff
• Providing consistent and nurturing support throughout the school day

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Previous experience working with children or young people
• Experience supporting behaviour, emotional wellbeing or additional needs
• A calm, patient and consistent approach
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• The ability to build trust with students
• A good understanding of positive behaviour strategies
• The ability to remain professional and calm when dealing with challenging situations
• A flexible and adaptable approach
• A genuine passion for supporting students to reach their potential
