Job Description

New Directions Education are currently recruiting experienced and confident Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to work in schools across Hartford and surrounding areas. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting teaching and learning and are confident delivering lessons and leading classroom activities when required.

The schools we work with are welcoming and supportive, with strong leadership teams and a commitment to creating positive learning environments for all pupils. Opportunities are available on both short-term and long-term assignments.

Due to the nature of these opportunities, candidates must be able to commit to working 3 or more days per week.


The Role:
• Delivering pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher
• Leading small group interventions and targeted learning support
• Providing classroom support across EYFS, KS1, and/or KS2
• Supporting pupils with a range of learning needs and abilities
• Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies
• Working collaboratively with teaching staff and senior leaders
• Assisting with assessment, monitoring, and pupil progress

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• HLTA status or a relevant Level 4 qualification (or equivalent experience)
• Experience working within a primary school setting
• Confidence leading whole-class learning
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• A proactive, flexible, and professional approach
• A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
• A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development
• A full driving licence and access to transport (desirable)
