New Directions Education are currently recruiting experienced and confident Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to work in primary schools across Chester and surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity for HLTAs who enjoy taking on additional responsibility, supporting teachers, and leading learning when required.
The schools we work with are welcoming and supportive, with a strong focus on high-quality teaching, inclusion, and student development.
Due to the nature of these opportunities, candidates must be able to commit to working 3 or more days per week.
• Delivering pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher
• Leading whole-class learning across EYFS, KS1, and/or KS2
• Delivering targeted interventions to support student progress
• Providing 1:1 and small group support where required
• Supporting students with a range of learning needs and abilities
• Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies
• Working closely with teachers, support staff, and senior leaders
• Assisting with assessment and monitoring student progress
• HLTA status or a relevant Level 4 qualification (or equivalent experience)
• Experience working within a primary school setting
• Confidence leading classes and delivering learning activities
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• A flexible, proactive, and professional approach
• A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
• A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development
• A full driving licence and access to transport (beneficial)
