Job Description

New Directions Education are currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants to work within mainstream primary schools across Chester. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them to access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential within an inclusive school environment.

The schools we work with are welcoming and supportive, with strong SEND provisions and a commitment to ensuring all pupils receive the support they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

Due to the nature of these opportunities, candidates must be able to commit to working 3 or more days per week.

The Role:

• Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND
• Supporting children with a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs
• Assisting pupils to access learning within the mainstream classroom
• Supporting the implementation of EHCP targets and individual support plans
• Encouraging positive behaviour, independence, and engagement in learning
• Promoting pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development
• Working closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
• Monitoring and recording pupil progress where required

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Experience working with children with SEND (school-based experience desirable)
• A patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils and staff
• A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
• A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
• A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable)
• A full driving licence and access to transport (desirable)
