New Directions Education are currently recruiting Teaching Assistants for primary schools across Chester and the surrounding areas, with a particular interest in candidates who have a background in sports coaching and are looking to move into the education sector.
This is an excellent opportunity for Sports Coaches who enjoy working with children and want to transfer their existing skills into a primary school setting. Your experience motivating children, leading activities and encouraging teamwork can be highly valuable when supporting students with their learning and development.
Due to the nature of these opportunities, candidates must be able to commit to working 3 or more days per week.
The Role:
Supporting teachers with the day-to-day running of the classroom
Providing 1:1 and small-group support to students
Helping students access learning activities and develop new skills
Using your experience of coaching to encourage teamwork, confidence and positive behaviour
Supporting students with their social, emotional and academic development
Helping maintain a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment
Building positive relationships with students and school staff
Assisting with classroom activities and learning resources
Supporting students with different abilities and learning needs
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Previous experience working as a Sports Coach or in a similar sports-based role
Experience working with children or young people
A genuine interest in moving into a Teaching Assistant role
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
The ability to motivate, encourage and engage children
A patient, adaptable and positive approach
The confidence to support groups of students and work alongside teachers
A passion for helping children learn, develop and reach their potential
A willingness to learn and develop within a school environment
A strong understanding of safeguarding and the importance of keeping students safe
Previous school-based experience is not essential. We are keen to hear from Sports Coaches who have transferable skills and are ready to take the next step into education.
All applicants must have, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS check and provide appropriate professional references.
