At New Directions, we are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Primary Teaching Assistant to work full-time, five days a week, in schools across the Harrogate area. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children’s learning and making a genuine difference in the classroom every day.

We are looking for candidates who already have school-based experience and understand the importance of creating a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.

The Role

As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting teachers and helping pupils reach their full potential. Working closely with classroom staff, you will assist with learning activities, encourage pupil engagement, and help maintain a positive and productive classroom atmosphere.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Supporting teaching and learning across the primary age range
• Working with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning
• Assisting with classroom preparation and organisation
• Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement
• Supporting pupils of varying abilities to achieve their learning goals
• Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
• Contributing to a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment

What We’re Looking For

– Previous experience working within a school setting is essential

– Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Classroom Support Worker, or similar role is highly desirable

– A genuine passion for supporting children’s education and development

– Strong communication and interpersonal skills

– A proactive, flexible, and positive attitude

– Ability to work effectively as part of a team

– Available to work 5 days per week
