New Directions Education are currently recruiting 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistants for primary schools across Nantwich and the surrounding areas, supporting students with a range of additional needs on an individual basis.
We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with previous SEND experience, as well as those with experience using British Sign Language (BSL) or supporting students who communicate using BSL.
Due to the nature of these opportunities, candidates must be able to commit to working 3 or more days per week.
The Role:
Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a student with additional needs
Supporting access to learning and classroom activities
Adapting activities and communication to meet individual needs
Supporting students’ social, emotional and academic development
Encouraging independence, confidence and positive engagement
Supporting communication and interaction
Using BSL where appropriate to support communication
Working closely with the class teacher and wider SEND team
Following individual support plans and strategies
Promoting a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND
Experience supporting needs such as Autism, ADHD, MLD, PMLD, SEMH or speech and language difficulties is desirable
BSL experience or qualifications would be highly beneficial
A patient, calm and nurturing approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to build positive relationships with students
A flexible and adaptable approach
Experience working on a 1:1 basis or within a SEND setting is desirable
A genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs
A strong understanding of safeguarding
All applicants must have, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS check and provide appropriate professional references.
