Job Description

New Directions Education are currently recruiting Behaviour Mentors for primary schools across Chester and the surrounding areas, supporting students who may require additional guidance with their behaviour, emotional wellbeing and engagement with learning.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience working with children or young people who are passionate about helping students develop confidence, positive relationships and strategies to manage challenges.

Due to the nature of these opportunities, candidates must be able to commit to working 3 or more days per week.

The Role:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to students
  • Helping students manage behaviour and emotions positively
  • Building strong and trusting relationships with students
  • Supporting students to engage positively with learning
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and social development
  • Using appropriate strategies to support emotional regulation
  • Working closely with teachers and wider school staff
  • Helping students develop confidence, resilience and independence
  • Maintaining a calm, consistent and nurturing approach

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people
  • Experience supporting behaviour, emotional wellbeing or additional needs
  • A calm, patient and consistent approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students
  • A good understanding of positive behaviour strategies
  • The ability to remain professional when dealing with challenging situations
  • A passion for supporting students to reach their potential

All applicants must have, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS check and provide appropriate professional references.
