New Directions Education are currently recruiting dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentors to work in primary schools across Chester and surrounding areas. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with behavioural, social, and emotional needs and helping them to engage positively with school life and learning.
The schools we work with are welcoming and inclusive, with strong pastoral systems and a commitment to supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning. This role offers the opportunity to make a real difference to children who require additional behavioural support in the classroom and around school.
Due to the nature of these opportunities, candidates must be able to commit to working 3 or more days per week.
• Supporting pupils with behavioural, social, and emotional needs
• Building positive relationships to encourage engagement, confidence, and learning
• Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils who require additional behavioural guidance
• Implementing behaviour support plans and strategies in line with school policies
• Supporting pupils to develop self-regulation, resilience, and positive coping strategies
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to provide consistent support
• Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment
• Monitoring and recording pupil progress where required
• Experience working with children or young people with behavioural needs (school, youth work, sports coaching, residential, or similar backgrounds welcome)
• A calm, patient, and resilient approach
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills
• The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils and staff
• A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
• A genuine passion for supporting children’s wellbeing and development
• A full driving licence and access to transport (beneficial)
